Polymeric plasticizers are normally more expensive to manufacture that are monomeric plasticizers, not only because of the costs of the raw materials, but because of the amounts of time it takes in the reactors to polymerize the building blocks into long-chain macromolecules. Sebacate monomerics, a class of alkyl diesters, which includes Plasthall DBS is based on sebacic acid which is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid made from castor beans. Plasthall DBS often can be found in such diverse applications as cosmetics, person care products, marine neoprene electrical-grade wiring and connectors, various MIL-spec’d materials, and specialty rubber compounds that require some degree of low-temperature flexibility. Because we make Suprmix Plasthall DBS a free-flowing by using our amorphous silica carrier, weighing delivery, and incorporation headaches are minimized. Suprmix Plasthall DBS is so efficiently incorporated during the mixing steps that often the PHR (Parts per Hundred Rubber) level can be reduced while the same physicals and durometer hardness are retained.
