Hallstar Bedford Park Facility Supports 100% of Energy Needs with Renewable Energy Certificates

Hallstar is pleased to announce that as of December 12, 2018, our Bedford Park, Illinois, facility approved the purchase of Green-e Energy certified renewable energy certificates sourced from wind generation (“RECs”). This 60,000 square foot manufacturing plant is now solely using renewable energy certificates to support the energy needs necessary to operate.

Numerous public opinion surveys have consistently shown that the public prefers wind and other renewable energy forms over conventional sources of generation. Wind energy is a renewable resource, so no matter how much is used today, there will still be the same supply in the future. Wind energy is also a source of clean, non-polluting, electricity. Unlike conventional power plants, wind plants emit no air pollutants or greenhouse gases.1

As a global manufacturer of innovative chemistry solutions for the industrial polymer and beauty and personal care sectors, Hallstar is committed to operating its business in a responsible manner in all social and environmental areas. As part of the Hallstar’s emissions reduction strategy, the purchase of these RECs, will help reduce the environmental impact of electricity use and support the creation of renewable energy generation, moving the market away from reliance on fossil fuel power plants which contribute to Greenhouse Gas emissions as well as particulate and other forms of air pollution. The purchase of RECs is just one example of the conscious changes Hallstar is implementing as part of our commitment to sustainability and creating a positive impact on our people, planet and environment.

In these efforts, Hallstar encourages collaboration with our customers and supply chain, as we recognize the synergistic value gained when we all work together for a greater purpose. We look forward to sharing future stories of Hallstar’s sustainable practices with you.
